The employment outlook for computer-based occupations has rebounded, with Orange County projected to have the largest number of available job openings in the field in the nation over the next five years. High-demand specialties include software specialists, database specialists, and networking and programming specialties. Software and computer services are one of the three highest paying industry clusters in the LA/Orange County area, with entry wages averaging $37,000+/year. Emerging industry clusters include computer gaming and entertainment technology, and computer and information security.

The Computer Information Systems Associate in Science Degree and Certificate programs are designed to prepare graduates for employment with organizations that use computers to process, manage, and communicate information. This is a flexible curriculum that can be customized to meet community information systems needs and give the student a comprehensive introduction to all specialty areas included in the CIS field.
Course work will develop a student’s ability to communicate complex technical issues related to computer hardware, software, and networks in a manner that computer users can understand. Classes cover computer operations and terminology, operating systems, database, networking, security, and technical support. Graduates should qualify for employment in entry-level positions with businesses, educational systems, and governmental agencies which rely on computer systems to manage information.
