Over the next five years, accounting and financial positions are among the top occupations with the most job openings in Orange County. Also, entry level positions in accounting, bookkeeping, and as auditing clerks have the highest entry hourly wages.
Area employers cite accounting and financial skills among the top five skills most needed by today’s workforce. 25% of local businesses responding to a recent survey stated that employees with training in accounting and finance would improve their firm’s ability to compete.
What can a community college education do for you?
- The income of students who earn degrees or certificates from California community colleges jumps from the California per capita income to 30% above the California per capita income in the one year after degree or certificate completion.
- National research shows that women with associate degrees earn nearly 48% more than their peers with only a high school education.

The Accounting program at Fullerton College leads to the Associate of Science Degree and/or Certificate in Accounting. Using the “language of business” and technology resources, accountants assemble and analyze, process and communicate essential information about financial operations.
Graduates should qualify for entry-level accounting positions in many types of organizations including accounting firms, small businesses, manufacturing firms, banks, hospitals, school systems, and governmental agencies. With work experience and additional education, an individual may advance in the accounting profession.
